Transition from Employee to Full-Time Entrepreneur

Transition from Employee to Full-Time Entrepreneur

by kristinh | Oct 29, 2015 | Uncategorized

One of the biggest fears I hear from both my clients and the women in my community is the fear of leaving the security of their full time job to pursue their coaching business. This is understandable since most of us grew up being told that we must do well in school...

Friday as I read the news about Roe vs Wade, I fel Friday as I read the news about Roe vs Wade, I felt tears stream down my face.

I was angry.

Usually I avoid speaking about anything overly political or controversial for fear of turning people away or attracting unwanted ‘haters’.

But I feel called to speak up.

To share my story.

Because it’s important…and it wants to be told.

The year was 2001. I was 18 years old. A freshman in college.

Excited about my new freedom, I decided to go to school out of state because I wanted a new experience. I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone. Force myself to make new friends and adapt to living in a totally new spot.

It was challenging…and fun.

The first few weeks were filled with meeting new people and parties.

And for me trauma.

Within the first month of school I was raped.

I still remember bits and pieces of the night…but don’t have a full picture of what happened.

The night started at a frat party and ended outside in a field with some guy forcing himself on me.

The next morning, I woke up and tried to piece together the events of the night before…I felt ashamed and confused…and wondered if it was all my fault. Was I not clear in my ‘No’? Was I too intoxicated? Had I been drugged?

I immediately went to the student health clinic and told them what happened and got an exam.

With little memory of the night or who I was with, there was not much else I could do.

Plus, I just wanted to put this all behind me and get on with being a ‘normal’ college freshman.

Luckily I wasn’t pregnant.

But what if I had been?

What if getting an abortion wasn’t an option? What if I had to prove that I was raped to get one? What if no one believed me and I was forced to carry a child and give birth?

What about the man who raped me? I have no idea who he was. Should I be responsible to raise this child on my own while he gets to go on living his life like it never happened?

What if I did know who he was? Should I be forced to raise and carry a child with the man who raped me?

These thoughts are incredibly upsetting to me.

How can you be the leader you wish you had? This How can you be the leader you wish you had?

This is the question you must ask yourself to build the business of your dreams.

Because when you are showing up and offering EXACTLY what you wish you had in a leader/teacher/coach, then you are in alignment.

You’ve most likely been where your ideal client is now.

You know exactly what they need to transform.

You know exactly what they need to hear.

You know exactly what kind of support they yearn for.

Offer this.

Show up like this.

STOP looking at what everyone else is doing.

What they are offering.

How they run their business.

What they are talking about.

How they are showing up.

How they market.

NONE of this matters.

And it is blocking you from your genius…which lies in being authentic and doing things YOUR way.

So this is your reminder to stop looking outside yourself for the answers.

You already have them all within YOU.

The key is to listen and trust.

Grab a journal and ask yourself this question, ‘How can I be the leader I wish I had?’

Don’t just think about it…write it out. Would love to hear your biggest a-ha’s in the comments. 😉

And then go be this person.

PS: Frolicking in the mountains this last weekend at Olympic National Park
Let your vision for your life become your compass…your guiding light.

Trust that you are meant to pursue your vision.

To make it your reality.

You have big dreams for a reason.

You want it ALL for a reason…

Because you can have it.

It’s meant for you.

And creating it and enjoying it is your path to living your most fulfilling life.

To being your best self.

To transformation.

I always dreamt of freedom…

Of working when and where I wanted.

Of being able to travel the world.

Of doing the work that is most aligned with my passions and skills.

And of making a lot of money doing it so that I could enjoy that freedom to the fullest.

We just got back from a magical (and cold!) weekend in Seattle. We have trips planned for July, August and September…to visit family, explore more of the world and of course, have fun.

So this is your reminder to dream big and pursue those dreams…whatever they may be.

Dreams are not meant to stay dreams…they are meant to be manifested in your life.
